Please join us for an informal lunch on Thursday, October 7 with Francis Shieh, an alumni of Georgetown University (’50), a professor of economics and Chinese language instructor. He will be giving a short talk on “Work and Study Cycle Theory as Applied to China’s Economic Development.”

Short Bio of Dr. Shieh
Dr. Shieh is an economist and Chinese language expert who has taught economics for three decades. A former Fulbright Senior Scholar in Hong Kong, he has taught at Seton Hall University and Western Michigan University, as well as universities in Guangzhou and Beijing. He has also been an economic consultant at the U.S. Department of Labor, RAND, and the United Nations Development Program. He has taught Chinese language at the Foreign Service Institute, the Army Language Institute, as well as the Defense Language Institute. A life long student of Confucianism, Dr. Shieh can also offer some unique insights into the thinking of China’s most well known philosopher.
